The Home Energy Rating Scheme (HERS) is an initiative by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) aiming to help New Zealanders be aware of the energy-efficiency of their homes.

Sustainable Design is an accredited assessor for the HERS scheme, and can offer HERS assessments for your existing home or your proposed design.

Although there is growing interest and acceptance of energy efficiency as an important aspect of having a warm and healthy home, many people don't know where to start to do something about it. When homes are assessed and rated, homeowners will also be given specifically tailored, professional recommendations about how they can improve their home's energy efficiency - and therefore its rating.

Overseas experience with home rating schemes like HERS shows that homes with good ratings tend to attract higher rental incomes and sale prices.
